WELCOME SCHOOL COORDINATORS TO YOUR EQUALITIES TRAINING JOURNEY.

We say ‘journey’ because work on equalities and inclusion is an ongoing learning process for us all, and the law and society evolves over time. That said, it is such a worthwhile journey to be on to improve the outcomes for all our learners, especially those who are from minority groups.

1. What’s the training about? ​

By the end of this training you will be able to: 

• Understand the difference between equity and equality. 
  
• Be familiar with key concepts regarding equalities and employment and where to find out more information. 
  
• Be able to outline why disabled, ethnic minority and girls face extra barriers in accessing work placements and why it is important to take action. 
  
• Source and collate supporting networks, partners and campaigns for equalities work that can be referred to in future. 
  
• Appreciate what ‘good’ placements for minority groups could look like. 
  
• Identify support that could help minority groups access work placements. ​
  

2. Why should you take part? ​

1. It is a mandatory part of your role as a School Coordinator. 
2. It will directly support you to complete your KPI4. 
3. This stuff is really useful and interesting and makes our society better!
